Studies of selected key issues and topics in American history and the historical debates about those issues. Stress is on methodology, interpretation, and the clash of opinion among historians. Topics vary each semester, and the focus may be the United States, Latin America, or points of contact and exchange between them. The course is required for graduate students in the MS in Education program in Secondary Social Studies Education. The course may be repeated for credit when offered with a different topic.
