Description
This course will introduce students to issues of diversity within the counseling process and society as a whole. As part of this course, students will examine issues related to race, culture, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, religion, socioeconomic class, and power. Students will be introduced to ethical and practice standards in the field as they relate to working with the culturally diverse client. A significant aspect of this course is to assist the emerging counselor in developing a deeper self awareness as an individual and a professional particularly as it relates to issues of diversity, and the impact of these issues on professional roles.
