This course will provide an overview of the major theories of group counseling with a focus on task groups, psychoeducational groups, and therapy groups. Topics will include techniques of group counseling, group dynamics, developmental stage theories, group process components, types of groups, ethical and legal considerations, leadership styles, as well as research and literature in group counseling and social systems. Experiential exercises will be used to reinforce concepts.
