The Department of Mathematics is one of eight departments in the School of Mathematics and Natural Sciences at Queens College. With a strong record of both research and teaching, the department has been home to many outstanding and notable mathematicians, including Banesh Hoffmann, Ravi Kulkarni, Edwin Moise, Arthur Sard, Mike Shub, Dennis Sullivan, and Leo Zippin.
