This course is designed to tap student motivation by using personal technologies such as mobile phones and tablets as tools for conducting authentic science investigations. The workshop provides tools to find and use real-time data and the analytical pedagogical foundation of how to use large data sets to engage students in detecting patterns in the natural environment. Data analytics is especially important in the21st century because of two advances: computational power and a veritable explosion in the quantity of collected data.
