Contemporary records and information management (RIM) focuses on traditional and on electronic records; approaching their management (storage, retrieval, access, disposal) by evaluating the record's life cycle as a whole. These processes are performed in the context of legal requirements, system architecture, industry standards and organizational guidelines.
