Description

Permission of the instructor. Late nineteenth- and twentieth-century orchestral techniques are studied through the works of Brahms and Wagner, Mahler and Strauss to Britten, Stravinsky, Boulez, and Lutoslawski. Students examine notation innovations, orchestrate twentieth-century piano music, and occasionally hear their exercises read by the School of Music orchestra.
