Introduces students to: (1) major categories and subcategories of genre fiction popular among adult readers; (2) theories underpinning reader's advisory services, such as theories of readers and reading, popular culture, cultural stratification, reader response, and audience uses and gratifications; and (3) current library practices that serve the needs of adults interested in these materials.
